Safety in Words is a Poetry Night raising money for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children – all profits go directly to helping protect children in the UK.

Joanna Woznicka is the organiser and host of Safety in Words, raising money for the NSPCC. She is a Polish-British poet, theatre-maker, and dancer. Her short film, Silence and Her Roommate, was commissioned by BBC New Creatives and can be viewed on BBC Arts iPlayer. She is now working on her next short poetry-dance film. Karishma Sangtani is a poet based in London. Her work appears in magazines such as The North, Ink Sweat and Tears and Modron. She was shortlisted for the 2021 Aurora Prize and the 2022 Creative Future Writers’ Award. Karishma is a member of The Writing Squad and the Roundhouse Poetry Collective 22/23. Oduenyi Nwike is an actor, poet and filmmaker. They are an immersive spoken word artist, who’s poetry builds worlds and seeks to provoke thought and beauty within their listeners. Oduenyi has roots in theatre and uses an embodied style of performance to assist audiences towards their meanings. Oduenyi aims to be educational and informative with each piece. Their art asks many questions and leaves the answers of these questions such as identity, morality and empathy up to the listeners to decipher.
Polly McCormack is a poet from Bradford living in London. She completed her MA in Modern and Contemporary Literature Culture and Thought from Sussex in 2021. Her work has been published in Wild Court and Tommyrot! and is forthcoming in the Black Cat Poetry Press anthology. She has read at the Hastings Bookshop Poetry Festival, All My Teachers, Sussex Poetry Festival, Hi Zero, and was a guest speaker at Blue Shout Poetry.
Tom Bailey is a poet from London. His poems have been published in magazines including bath magg, The North, The Kindling, The Cormorant, Propel, and the Lighthouse Literary Journal. He is a member of the Roundhouse Poetry Collective and the editor of the online magazine And Other Poems (@And_OtherPoems).
