The Student Guide to Writing: Playwriting Launch Event

Join us at Central Saint Martins for the series launch of an exciting new student playwriting initiative.

The Bush Theatre is proud to be partnering on The Student Guide to Writing: Playwriting, in 2016.

The initiative is the first in a series of competitions designed to share the best dramatic writing training with students and teachers in schools, colleges and universities across the UK.

Developed with the MA Dramatic Writing at Drama Centre London at Central Saint Martins, Writers at Work and Oberon Books, the scheme will offer inspiration to students and teachers in the form of regularly released lesson plans followed by the opportunity for students to submit their plays.

Five student winners will be selected to attend a bootcamp on playwriting at Drama Centre London and will see their work performed and published by Oberon Books.

Lesson plans will be written by some of the UK’s leading playwriting experts including Steve Winter, co-founder of the Old Vic New Voices 24 Hour Plays and Director of the Kevin Spacey Foundation, Rob Drummer, the Bush Theatre’s Associate Dramaturg, and Ola Animashawun, founder of the Royal Court Theatre’s young writers’ programme.

The series will launch on December 16 at 7pm at Central Saint Martins as part of the New Writing Platform series. The launch event will include information about the competition and how to apply plus a free playwriting workshop and Q&A with the Bush’s Rob Drummer.
