We’ve asked the brilliant cast of Perseverance Drive to tell us a little about the characters that they play. First up is Franc Ashman…
In Perseverance Drive I play Ruth Gillard, who is married to Nathan Gillard, daughter in law to Eli Gillard.
Ruth, is a warm hearted, intelligent, generous and giving person, who puts her duty to god and family above all else. She is struggling to find the balance between her duties, instincts and passions.
Ruth is the organiser, cook, mediator, peacekeeper, family politician, and a quiet force to be reckoned with.
It’s hard to say how audiences react to Ruth as I haven’t had those conversations, but I hope they relate to her humanity and need to do the right thing.
The one piece of advice I would give my character is; be brave, follow your instincts.
My favourite line in the play? “Be and be better”.
